Get the leak-test result on the repair order

Revision A requires wiTECH Small Leak Verification Test for P0456. It also addresses P1CEA and U0100. Unrelated faults require diagnosis and repair before the update path. A stored leak code does not identify the leaking component.

Separate three questions

QuestionWhy the answer changes the job
Did SLVT find a leak?Diagnose a demonstrated leak; the flash bulletin does not negate it.
VIN on the historical RRT list?A listed vehicle with current software can complete by inspection.
Unlisted VIN, matching condition?A symptom-based repair route also exists.

Do not buy a gas cap for the documented capless system

The 2019 Renegade user guide describes a capless filler with a flap operated by the fuel nozzle. It warns against adding plugs or objects to the filler neck. If your car has this arrangement, a generic internet instruction to tighten a screw-on cap does not fit it. Tell the workshop about any filler damage or refueling difficulty instead of improvising a seal.

Useful observations without dismantling anything

Bring the scan report and note whether the warning followed refueling, a repair or an intermittent no-crank episode. Keep those as observations, not a diagnosis. A workshop can then connect the leak-test finding and software status to the actual complaint rather than treating every reported symptom as one fault.

The user guide calls for immediate service if the engine warning flashes; persistent illumination also needs service. This article does not classify a flashing warning or poor running as a harmless EVAP fault.

A completed job should answer both questions

Ask what the leak test established and which PCM version is now installed. If a part was replaced, ask where the fault was demonstrated and how the repair was checked. These are editorial review questions, not additional steps claimed to appear in the bulletin.
