Dodge / Vehicle-specific diagnosis
2022 Dodge Challenger P0456 or P0455: choose the correct EVAP bulletin
Dodge published separate software instructions for three Challenger engines. Matching the fault code is only the first part of matching the repair.
Check the vehicle first.
- Vehicle
- 2022 Challenger LA; engine sales code EZH, EZC or ESG as listed below
- Codes
- P0455/P0456 leak detection; P0440 system fault; P0441 purge performance
Use the engine sales code to select the document
All three identify PCM software as the cause of a condition involving one or more of those codes. That supports a calibration investigation on the matching vehicle; it does not identify a leaking component or extend the remedy to another model year.

What would make a flash-only estimate incomplete?
The 5.7L EZH bulletin requires related-system checks and resolution of other faults before reprogramming. A repair order should therefore distinguish the supported software condition from any additional diagnosis. A measured leak, damage or separate code must not disappear from the explanation simply because an update exists.
For a failed leak test, include modification history
A separate Stellantis STAR experience note, S2325000006, advises inspecting accessory-installation damage when P0455/P0456 accompany a failed SLVT. Its examples include over-drilled holes and fasteners rubbing through components. This is a general diagnostic lead, not a Challenger-specific defect finding or authorization to replace parts. With no abnormality found, the note returns the technician to normal diagnosis.
Manual-transmission completion differs
The two 5.7L bulletins include a Top Gear Learn branch for sales code DEC manual transmission after programming. The reviewed 6.4L bulletin does not prescribe that branch. Have the workshop use the selected document and transmission configuration; do not attempt a road-speed relearn from a summary page.
Ask for findings, not a shopping list
Keep photos or invoices for recent accessory work available. They can help the technician decide where to look, but they are not proof that the installer caused this warning.
- Which engine sales code and bulletin match my VIN?
- Was the conclusion software-only, or was a physical leak actually demonstrated?
- If parts are proposed, where is the failed location or functional test?
- Which programming and transmission-specific completion checks were performed?
